Back on the Interweb

Hello dedicated follows,

Made it back to MCC! Let's see what has happened since the last post...

We visited a government mine on Tuesday. We had to wake up pretty early (left at 6:15) and it was a two and half hour bus ride. The mine was 40 miles away from our hotel... if that gives you gives any indication of the roads in India... The mine was pretty awesome though - it definitely changed by perspective of large scale mining (there will be an academic blog on this topic forthcoming). Here are a couple pictures from the trip though:

Emus at a place we stopped at for lunch

The next day we visited the Natraja temple.

We also visited a mangrove forest and went on a boat tour. Unforuntately I did not take pictures there (you have to pay to bring your camera along and it seemed a bit redundant to bring along 20 cameras) - I'll do my best to share pictures other people in the group take as well.

The drive back to MCC was a bit rough - it took over five hours. When we got back the internet the internet was knocked out though from a storm.

Yesterday and today we have been in lectures and are taking it pretty slow (I think we are all a bit worn out from a lot of traveling). Everyone in the city is on a three day holiday due to local elections. Security is pretty tight around the school because ballots are being counted here.

'Til next time,
Me
