Remember Remember the 5th of November

So we got back from Trichy on Monday night and then we were in class on Tuesday and Thursday. Lecture topics were Natural Disasters in India, Indo-US Relations, and Eco Tourism.

On Wednesday we visited the Family Life Institute - a community outreach program ran by MCC. There is a elementary school and health clinic there. We had the opportunity to hang out with kids and help out as we were able. Some people in the group painted murals - I'm not artistically gifted so I helped organize some new children books that had been donated to the school. It was nice to be able to help out and interact with the people there.

Thursday afternoon we visited a reservoir and then checked out another mall in Chennai. I had a Subway sub there... it was delicious.

Friday we headed to Chennai and visited a few different places. We visited Kalaksherta - a school of arts. Then we visited the Theosophical Society and that was really neat. It's a center dedicated to interfaith dialogue and they had beautiful gardens there. They also had the third largest banyan three in the world there! (I might have to post pictures later - I don't have my camera with me). Our final stop was at a cathedral built on the tomb of St. Thomas. It was a bit bizarre to be in a cathedral in India - seemed more fitting for Europe. That was still really neat though.

This weekend is a free weekend. We leave MCC a week from tomorrow so I need to do some homework this weekend. Miss erry'body back home.
